Our Dad, Dr Padmakar Hari Udas grew up in the small town of Ahmednagar.
After he graduated and finished his MBBS he decided to try his luck in Mumbai.
He secured a job in Mumbai initially and a few years later established a successful General Practice in Khar & Danda with sincerity and dedication.
His patients always came first. He offered free treatments to all those who could not afford to buy the medicines.
People knew that they would never be turned away even in the middle of the night.
Dad’s eulogy would be incomplete without mentioning Mom.
After coming to Mumbai he got to know my mother and they got married with blessings from the family.
My mother, Pushpa was the kindest person with a heart of gold. Being a qualified Clinical Pathologist helped to shoulder the responsibilities equally.
Dad was the eldest son in the family and took the responsibility of providing for his father to raise and educate his younger siblings.
He also fulfilled his responsibility to provide for his uncle to raise and educate his cousins.
One by one they brought all younger siblings to Mumbai for higher studies and later got them married too.
They were blessed with four daughters whom they raised lovingly.
All of us were educated well and were married off with splendour.
Our parents had a deep affection for the family and expected nothing in return except to give them a good future.
They also carried out the responsibility of looking after our grandparents in their old age.
Our parents had compassion and a tremendous capacity for forgiveness.
They were the glue that bound the family together and gave us the strength to spread our wings and fly. They selflessly put the needs of each and every family member before their own.
Dad proved to be a wonderful son, a supportive brother, an understanding husband and a loving father.
He loved all of us unconditionally and beyond words.
Dad will be in our hearts forever.
